Bike Weeks
Bike week is a dedicated week of events and information on cycling, with the aim of raising the profile and benefits of cycling for everyone whether for leisure, as a mode of transport for commuting, or as a competitive sport. It provides an opportunity to enjoy social and fun cycling events, to also try-out cycling, to learn about road safety for cycling and awareness of cyclist, and to participate in leisure cycle rides.
Ireland
This year, Ireland celebrates cycling, hosting a wide range of events throughout the country during 'bike week' from 13th to 19th June 2010, including:
- Cycling on Wednesday for schools;
- Bike maintenance workshops including advice and free repairs;
- Organised cycle rides from family leisure rides, picnic and fancy-dress rides to critical mass cycle rides;
- Cycle fashion shows and entertainment;
- Advice and information on road safety for cycling and road safety awareness of cyclist;
- Introduction to cycling and cycling for beginners of all ages;
- Cycle training events for schools, colleges and adults;
- 10 minute workplace cycle challenge;Organised cycle tours of towns and longer distance cycle tours;
- Introduction events to mountain-biking and competitive cycle road racing; and,
- Information on tax breaks for purchasing bikes at the workplace.

United Kingdom
Bike week is being held in the UK between 19th and 27th June 2010, although events are being held in Northern Ireland from 13th to 27th June 2010. Northern Ireland is promoting bike week as 'two wheels two weeks' encouraging cycling and introducing the benefits of cycling, with a range of events being held during this period including:
- Bike to work breakfast events;
- Bike to school days and Bike to work day;
- Organised leisure cycle rides;
- Cycle MOT and repair events;
- Belfast Grand Prix – professional cycle racing; and,
- Belfast to Dublin and back to Belfast maracycle.
